Blue Alice in Wonderland

Blue Alice was getting tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and having nothing to do. When suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran by. Rabbit say to itself, "Oh dear ! Oh dear ! I shall be too late !"
This is my version of Alice in Wonderland classic children's story with a twist. It is always fun when creating art to make it your own. My Alice has blue hair and is more mature.
My inspiration for this Gothic Arch is from the new soon to be released Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland movie. This looks like another big movie hit ....

Once She Grows Up

I sometimes give myself a personal art challenge using Character Constructions art stamps. I pick out different stamps from the collection and set them out on my desk. Then I come up with a theme to create a unique art doll. I like tearing along the edges of the fairy wings for a different whimiscal look. I really enjoy this quote that I added to my paper doll body. The reason why is children don't give a lot of thought when creating. They just do it !!!!

Eau De Toilette

A true reflection of the classic and romantic style that exists within every woman.
Have you ever had a visit from the Fragrance Fairy, she shares her magic gladly. She delights in making all our fragrance wishes come true. Skipping and dancing on gossamer wings.
The inspiration for this art paper doll I created, is easy to guess .....
I really enjoy the image of this amazing moon face from the so creative Catherine Moore's Character Constructions art stamp collection.
Ooh La La......

Come Fly With Me

Spread your wings and let the fairy in you fly.
I asked my daughter her opinion about this art piece, I created. Her thoughts were she is in a cage she can't fly? I said maybe she just needs to open her cage door and fly away.....
The art paper doll image is from talented Catherine Moore's Character Constructions art stamps. I first prepared my surface with gesso. I then painted the background and speckled. Then stamped with a swirl pattern stamp. I created a freehand bird cage using black pencil crayon. Who wants a cage with straight metal bars, it is art. LOL I wrote my words along the edge of the Gothic arch with a white pen. I added colored ink to all my edges and and on the background. I colored all my images with my watercolor pencils. I enjoyed creating this whimsical piece. I adore wings and antique bird cages.
Do you think she will fly away.

Cheryl Dolby is a wonderful sculptor. Go to see her first art paper doll on her blog: Healing Woman .

What I Live For

To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.
This art doll has her arms extended outward, she is embracing all the wonders surrounding her.
I enjoy using the colors of the ocean in my art work. Then added in some bright colors for a good contrast, I love pink hair. The arms, boots ,head, shirt are from Catherine Moore's, Character Constructions art stamp collection. I cut out a skirt shape from card stock and colored it to look similiar to plaid fabric. The inspiration for this art paper doll I created came from my thoughts of live your life to the fullest.

Pretty Little Feather

Light as a feather.
What a challenge to create this tiny matchbox art paper doll. I had started her last night and had to take a break. Sometimes that really helps me and step away when it is not coming together. Then come back with a fresh new start and go at it again. It is so much more difficult to create tiny art piece's. I have never created a matchbox doll this teeny tiny. I was pleased able to use my punch on her little arms to make them moveable, she is from Character Constructions art stamp collection. The micro brads look huge on her corset, that is how tiny she is. They gave her a funky look like the singer Madonna the material girl. LOL

Spread Your Wings And Fly

Color outside the lines, the best advise for an artist.
I started this grunge art piece awhile back and never finished it. I have had it sitting on my desk and for some reason tonight felt time to finish it. I had used gel medium, watered down gesso, sandpaper, applied different colors of ink all over the images and my watercolor pencil crayons. It is fun to use recycled items when creating your art work. I found the piece of wire in the farm metal scrap pile and the metal buttons in an old building in the summer time. The background surface is a piece of corrigated paper and I removed the top layer of paper. It is fun to recycle and re-use if you can in your art work.

She'll Never Grow Up

Forget them Wendy, forget them all. Come with me where you'll never, never have to worry about grown up things again.
The wonderful words "never grow up" makes us think of the wonderful childrens book Peter Pan. A boy who refuses to never grow up.
It is easy to let your imagination run wild when creating with Catherine Moore's Character Constructions art stamps.
So come with me, where dreams are born and time is never planned. Just think of happy things, and your heart will fly on wings, forever, in Never Never land.
Sweet Dreams.

Dream Bubble

What is a dream bubble ? It is a fantastic impracticable desire, an example "a castle in the air".
Today was a perfect morning for creating and staying indoors. We received a lot of snow, amazing the roads were safe to drive by 4:00 in the afternoon. That made my day, big time.
My inspiration for this art paper doll was inspired dreaming of Spring time. Flowers, butterflies, clear nights looking at the Man in the Moon.To be honestly some of the elements of this creation are a mystery even to me. LOL
The main doll parts are from Character Constructions designed by fabulous Catherine Moore. This art doll was such fun to create and it never gets old.
Follow your dreams.

Hocus Pocus

It's just a little Hocus Pocus.....
I finally made some art time and created this art paper doll. I think wearing a pair of funky boots like these would be so cool but major toe pain. LOL I would give these boots a chance and maybe wear them for one hour. hahaha I adore funky fashion boots. I used Character Constructions clear art stamps from the new stamp collection Mannequin Cafe. I really like the combination of the reddish brown with the green's and blue colors. My inspiration came from my thoughts of how magical creating art work is.

A Poem That Doesn't Rhyme

If I create from the heart, nearly everything works ; if from the head almost nothing.
This art paper doll has a story, that not everything has to have a meaning. Sometimes it is just art. I enjoy adding vintage lace and finding it is a bonus on a antique treasure hunt. The doll parts are from Character Constructions "Mannequin Cafe". It is a bit of a challenge to read her story but that is what makes it interesting.
Happy Creating.

Striking Originality

Everyone has skeletons in their closets...
I was asked awhile back to create a "Spooky" art paper doll so, here it is Kate. I thought the theme for this art doll was fitting as it is my birthday today. Time is always ticking away. It seems the older you get the faster and faster it seems to goes.
Time is precious.
