Funky Time

Time the thief of life
I find myself thinking a lot about time. I know the older you get the faster it goes...
Sometimes you find yourself wishing you could go back in time or into the future. My inspiration for this art paper doll was from all these thoughts on my mind.
I wanted to create an out of the box funky "has it going" dress, using Character Constructions art stamps. Using bright bold colors in your art work, always feels so positive. The butterfly on her forehead just makes her such a funky gal.
Time, time and time... LOL

Flying Flower

Tonight I created this art paper doll while watching the intense and powerful movie Lovely bones. What a unique movie...
I tried to add a very whimsical feeling to this funky little spirit. She is a delicate butterfly the flying flower. I love adding artful eyes, the reason why ? It is the make up artist in me that has to create dramatic eyes and lips. LOL I have always thought fish net stockings were so cool.
The main art doll parts are from Character Constructions fabulous clear stamps collection.
Watch closely in the night stars, you might get a glimpse of her fluttering wings.
Maybe she lost her boot flying...
Happy creating.

Time To Dream

Do you ever wake up from a dream and say what did that mean ? LOL
I am always fascinated with my dreams and they sometimes give me answers.
I had fun creating this background for this Gothic arch. I use acrylic paint and black ink.
I love this raven wearing a crown, he is so funky.
Always remember to dream big, that thought came from Oprah.
Happy creating.

My Artful Heart

The theme for this art paper doll was not to have one. LOL
I used cheese cloth added with gel medium for the body background and little glass turquoise beads.
I really enjoy this quote, it has so many different meanings ? What mind message do these words make you think of ? I am just curious and it is interesting.
Most of the stamped image paper doll parts are from Catherine Moore's, Character Constructions, they are so funky...
Happy creating.

About Life Itself

She says her head feels heavy.
I have not had a lot of creative time lately. Sometimes life gets to busy and art creating has to be put aside. It is such a comfort when you can find creative time.
I wanted to create an art paper doll with a larger head than her body. The reason why is because sometimes your head just feels to heavy for your body. Your mind is so full of thoughts and emotions. The added wings are to help all those heavy thoughts fly away. LOL (don't we wish, it was that easy) The flowers on her forehead are so precious and delicate like life itself. The stain glass window was fun to use as her main body part and curtains on the bottom of the window are just to be different. The arms and legs are from Character Constructions, the legs were along the same pattern idea as the window. I find myself using the same colors a lot but they work well for me. It is fun to make change, I will have to work on my colors choice's in the future. I love change so I have to work on some new color combinations in my art work. What are your favorite color combinations in your art work these days ?
Happy creating.

Time Flies

Time flies on restless pinions-constant never ~Fredrich Schiller
The theme for this art paper doll is all about time.
If you had three wishes, would you wish for all the time in the world ? Lately the days just fly by and I know the older you get the faster time goes. LOL
At first I added the blue wire for a funky fashion statement and then it looked like she was capture in time maybe ? When I look at her again she looks like a "Diva Time Traveller" with her companion the pet raven. What is her story, who is she...
All the doll parts are from Character Constructions except the groovy blue head. I used the color combination of blue, teal, tan, lime green and purple. I add the tan pencil crayon because I have a habit of getting my colors too dark. I love dark colors and the tan keeps the balance for me.
I had fun creating blue hair and blue lips for this paper doll. Dare to be different, live well.
Make every day count.

Pretty Fly

I love paper dolls
I pick the prettiest part of the sky and I melt into the wing and then into the air, till I'm just soul
on a sunbeam-Richard Bach
This art paper doll was a creative challenge. I started out with these rubber stamps, the whimsical tea cup, birdcage and this interesting coil spring. It is always a mystery what your finished art piece will be, I always wonder when I begin ? That is what I enjoy about creating art it never gets boring...
Happy creating.

Splashes Of Color

I like this background better, the one below takes away from the art paper doll I think.
What destination is your life compass taking you ?

The theme for this art paper doll started with her main focus doll body part, a compass.(Tim Holtz, Mask)
I was thinking how your life is always changing and going in new directions. Sometimes really positive or not what you were wishing for at all. Lately I am reminded to make everyday count and enjoy it.

As I have mentioned before you can create so many different art dolls if you have these Character Constructions unique arms and legs. I enjoy starting with these doll parts and then let my imagination fly. LOL

I had this old photograph I purchase from our local antique market awhile ago, I just adore Betty. Suddenly looking at the vintage photograph, I remembered the movie "Who Framed Rodger Rabbit" . That is where my idea came from to add my funky art doll "Splashes Of Color" to these black and white famous vintage pin ups. Creating is so magical, you never know what direction your imagination will take you.

It is a curiouser and curiouser our art journeys and perhaps think of six impossible things before breakfast. Can you guess the amazing DVD I just purchased with the words I am using above ? I just love Alice in Wonderland, just a fabulous movie.
I added another version of the art doll with a different background. I am not sure which back ground works best for her ? What do you think, maybe the stars is the winner.

The theme for this art paper doll was all about your destiny ...
